All driving school owners and principals in an all-terrain vehicle safety training organization are required to secure and file a surety bond with the California Department of Motor Vehicles in the amount of $10,000. If the owner is not the operator of the driving school, the owner shall designate an operator and file with the department an instrument, in writing, appointing the director as the agent of the applicant upon whom a process may be served in any action commenced against the applicant arising out of any claim for damages suffered by any person by the applicant's violation of any provision of this code or any condition of the bond (C.V.C 11102)
The California DMV Driving School bond is required by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles and is conditioned that the applicant shall not practice any fraud or make any fraudulent representation that will cause a monetary loss to a person taking instruction from the driving school or all-terrain-vehicle training organization.
The bond protects all persons receiving instructions from the driving school or all-terrain-vehicle training organization.
Once the Driving School Owner of All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Training Organization Bond has been approved and released to the applicant’s care, it must be filed with the Department of Motor Vehicles along with the all related paperwork. The Department of Motor Vehicles will maintain the bond, which must remain effective at all times to prevent the suspension of the license.
